Length of Relationship: One month
She Said: Oof. Shortly after getting engaged to Jed during her finale, choosing him over fan-favorite Tyler Cameron, Bachelorette Hannah was shocked when she learned the musician allegedly came on the show with a girlfriend, planning to use the experience as a platform to jumpstart his career. After confronting him during a scheduled visit, Hannah dumped Jed.
"That's not what I said yes to," she later explained. "When I said those things, the things I said on my engagement day I thought that was my day. I feel like that was taken from me."
He Said: Jed continued to downplay his previous romance, claiming he and ex Haley Stevens were never officially together and later stressed he wasn't "a cheater." But he apologized to Hannah, saying, "I was acting out of of fear instead of love and respect for you. I wasn't sure how any of it would be taken....I held out because I was scared to lose you."
While Jed and Hannah (now engaged to Adam Woolard) aren't close, Haley has remained in the former pageant queen's life, marrying her brother Patrick Brown in 2022. Joked Hannah of the vows, "I've come to realize my life is a never-ending plot twist."
Colton Underwood and Cassie Randolph, The Bachelor Season 23
Length of Relationship: Less than two years
He Said: Revealing that, yes, he and his final rose recipient had ended their Bachelor romance, Colton wrote in a May 2020 Instagram post, "Sometimes people are just meant to be friends—and that's okay. We both have grown immensely and been through so much together—so this isn't the end of our story, it's the start of a whole new chapter for us."
She Said: While the speech pathologist agreed in her post that they'd "always have each other's back" the next saga of their story included a temporary restraining order, accusations of stalking and harrassment and eventually Colton's 2021 revelation that he is gay.
Days later, Cassie posted a video on her YouTube channel letting her followers know she wouldn't be discussing the topic. "There's a lot of layers to it," she said, "and I just feel like the best thing for me at this time is to move forward and just focus on going forward."
Joe Amabile and Kendall Long, Bachelor in Paradise Season 5
Length of Relationship: Eighteen months
He and She Said: After becoming one of Bachelor in Paradise's most beloved couples in season five and moving into a shared L.A. pad, the pair announced their surprising 2020 split with a joint statement.
"We have decided mutually to go our separate ways," the pair told BachelorNation.com. "Joe has made the decision to move back to Chicago while Kendall will be remaining in her hometown of Los Angeles."
Later, Kendall admitted she "did not see" the break-up coming, explaining, "Ultimately what happened was that Joe felt like he would have a better [life] in Chicago."
Krystal Nielson and Chris Randone, Bachelor in Paradise Season 5
He and She Said: Each villains on their own seasons, the pair left Mexico engaged in 2018 and returned the next summer for their on-air wedding. But by February 2020, they were releasing a joint split announcement.
"Never did we imagine this scenario, but we've come to a point where we both need to work on ourselves," they said in a statement to BachelorNation.com, adding, "we are best friends that love and care for each other so deeply."
Still, when fitness guru Krystal announced her pregnancy with now-husband Miles Bowles that November, Chris admitted on social media, the news was the "icing on the cake for feeling truly broken."
Jordan Kimball and Jenna Cooper, Bachelor in Paradise Season 5
Length of Relationship: A few months
He Said: For one of the more dramatic Paradise finishes, blogger Reality Steve released texts Jenna purportedly sent to another man claiming her relationship with Florida-based model Jordan wasn't real—just days after their engagement aired on the 2018 finale. "It's looking like I got played," Jordan told Reality Steve. "Once you get played the last thing you want to do is get fooled as well."
Though Jenna denied any cheating, Jordan still told Entertainment Weekly, "I'm removing myself from the relationship with intentions to take care of myself and find my happiness."
She Said: The social media manager hired an attorney to investigate the situation and in October 2018, her rep released the results of a digital forensic analysis performed on her electronic devices, saying the search "definitively confirmed none of the text messages in question came from Jenna's phone."
Becca Kufrin and Garrett Yrigoyen, The Bachelorette Season 14
Length of Relationship: More than two years
She Said: Much was made of Garrett's controversial show of support for police amid the Black Lives Matter resurgence, with Becca admitting she didn't "agree with" his statement. But the Bachelorette insisted that wasn't the only thorn in their romance.
"It wasn't something that we just arrived at one night," she said weeks after their August 2020 breakup. "It wasn't based solely off of one Instagram post or somebody else's opinions or comments. There's much more to it." Ultimately, she concluded, "Life happens and people sometimes drift apart and have differences and they go their separate ways."
He Said: Months later, amid a new romance with now-wife Alex Farrar, Garrett addressed the split on his Instagram Stories, insisting, "Out of respect for her and her family, I'm only going to answer this question ever as, it just didn't work out."
Length of Relationship: Four months
He Said: While he didn't address their break-up directly, Dean took to Instagram following the 2018 post-Games split. "Love takes work. Love is compromise. Love is earned," wrote the Bachelorette alum. "I still have a lot of work to do on myself, a lot to prove to myself, before I'm ready for something like that."
She Said: In a lengthy Instagram post, Lesley said she was looking for an equal in a relationship. "All we need is that same energy reciprocated, and despite how open and loving you attempt to be, people can only meet you as deeply as they've met themselves," the travel blogger wrote. "Don't be afraid to be the one that loved the most and give everything you had, because you've got to find people who love like you do and who are ready." She added: "Out with the old, in with the TRUE."
Length of Relationship: Less than a month
He Said and She Said: The winning couple of the spinoff sounded off on their split on her Almost Famous podcast, both saying their relationship was short on "spark."
Ashley explained, "It sounds a little harsh but it's just that lack of magic. We get along very well, but there's just a little something missing." Kevin added that a long-distance relationship was an "uphill battle," saying, "We could have done two or three more trips and then it just would have kind of dragged it out so it's all good. It makes sense."
Ashley later revealed that reconnecting with Paradise love (and now-husband) Jared Haibon also played a role.
Length of Relationship: Less than two months
He and She Said: The former couple announced the end of their romance in a joint Instagram post two months after their surprise engagement at the World Tells All special in February 2018. "It's with a heavy heart that we have mutually decided to end our relationship," they wrote. "We think the world of each other, and we were both hoping we could make this work. I'm sorry that this may not be what you want to hear, but it's our truth."
Length of Relationship: Two months
He Said: Oops, I pulled a Mesnick? After proposing to Becca at the end of his season in November 2017, Arie realized by January that he still was in love with runner-up (and now-wife) Lauren Burnham and wanted to pursue a relationship with her. So he decided to blindside Becca and break-up with her during a scheduled "happy couple weekend," allowing ABC to air it in all its uncomfortable split-screen glory on the March 2018 finale.
She Said: "Are you f--king kidding me?" That mid-breakup reaction pretty much summed up the situation, but the soon-to-be Bachelorette later added to People, “At the end of the day, I don’t think he thought through everything of how ending things with Lauren would be, how being engaged to me would be and what breaking up with me and going back to her would be. I don’t think he thought it through, but I don’t think he did it maliciously to break my heart.”
Derek Peth and Taylor Nolan, Bachelor in Paradise Season 4
Length of Relationship: One year
He and She Said: After getting engaged during the season four reunion special, the long distance couple announced their split with a joint statement to E! News.
"It is with much sadness that we have decided to end our engagement. We put everything we could into our relationship and are heartbroken to go forward separately, but we know this is the best decision for the both of us," the June 2018 statement read. "We will still be present in each other's lives with support, admiration and respect for each other."
While Derek would return to BIP for another shot at love, Taylor opened up to E! News about eventually being open to talking to her ex, who she hadn't spoken to in over a year.
"All I was saying is that I wouldn't rule it out down the line," she said, "if we actually talked and had some closure."
Daniel Maguire and Lacey Mark, Bachelor in Paradise Season 4
Length of Relationship: A few weeks
She Said: While the digital marketing manager fully believed the quirky model's claim that he wanted to try a relationship IRL, she revealed on the Paradise aftershow in 2017 that he wasn't at the beach for the right reasons. Away from the cameras, she asked him if he really was falling for her, she shared, "and that's when he told me the truth."
He Said: Okay, sure, he told cameras he would "never change his Facebook status to 'in a relationship'" with the New Yorker, but the Canadian said he didn't fully shut down the idea of pursuing things. As he explained on the aftershow, "I said, 'You have to be realistic about the situation. Let's play it by ear.'"
And while he did pay a visit to NYC, Lacey claimed he mostly hung out with Paradise pal Vinny Ventiera.
Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo, The Bachelorette Season 13
Length of Relationship: Six years
He Said: Shortly after filing to end their four-year marriage in January 2024, the Miami-bred chiropractor posted to Instagram, "I'm a family man, but sometimes loving yourself and your partner means you must let go."
He then continued to address commenters on social media, denying reports their issues had to do with having kids ("Rachel did want a family") or the former lawyer's decision to pursue career opportunities in L.A. "Her building her future was not the problem," he wrote. "I would encourage anyone to pursue their dreams and hope they have a healthy support system to do so."
She Said: Rachel kicked off the Jan. 5 episode of her and Van Lathan's podcast Higher Learning by addressing the news. "Obviously it's a difficult time, if you've read the headlines, and you're probably wondering why I would even work," she said. "But to be honest with you I need to distract myself from myself and the best way to do that is to do something that I love and I love Higher Learning."
As for the details surrounding their divorce, she would "eventually" share more, she vowed, "but now is not the time, just trying to take it day by day."
Length of Relationship: Six months
He Said: After calling off their engagement in 2017, Nick told Us Weekly, "I still love her very much. I'm not afraid to say that."
Inviting his ex on his Patreon series, Nick V Talks Trash TV: A Bachelor and His Exes Tell All, in 2020, Nick admitted, "We would always hear, everyone fights while it's airing, everyone does. Once the season's over, it's going to get better. And it just didn't for us."
She Said: In an emotional Instagram post, Vanessa wrote, "It's okay to feel broken. It's okay to cry. It's okay to lean on a friend. In the end, it will always be okay."
She later opened up to People, saying, "as much as we loved each other and tried to make it work, we just realized we were different people fighting to keep a relationship when ultimately we just weren't the best fit for each other."
Evan Bass and Carly Waddell, Bachelor in Paradise Season 3
Length of Relationship: Four years
She Said: One month after the unlikely Paradise power couple announced the end of their marriage with a joint statement, Carly explained to her YouTube subscribers why the bloom came off the rose. “We tried for a really long time to make it work," the singer, who shares daughter Isabella and son Charles with Evan, said in a January 2021 video. "We went to therapy. We focused a lot more on the kids than we focused on ourselves and, ultimately, I think that was our biggest downfall."
He Said: Her ex agreed that they never really set a solid foundation. While filming in Mexico, "You just have to work on your relationship," the erectile dysfunction specialist, who has three other sons from his first marriage, said on the Talking It Out podcast in 2022. "And you talk about real-life stuff and for me, it was very genuine, and I think when you get out, that transition, that's probably where we missed it. Like, communicating about values and just communication in general. Figuring out how to work through life. I have, obviously, other children that aren't with Carly, and so there was just a lot to work through."
Lace Morris and Grant Kemp, Bachelor in Paradise Season 3
Length of Relationship: Five months
He Said: While the Paradise pair thought their love would be as permanent as their "Grace" tatoos, "There were things we were trying to work on that we expected to get better with time, and unfortunately it kind of went the opposite way," the firefighter explained to ET shortly after they ended their engagement in 2016. "When you’re in a regular relationship there’s already challenges you face. We did everything backwards."
She Said: To hear the Denver real estate agent tell it, there were thorns from the beginning. "I never fully trusted Grant and I never was fully secure with him," she explained to E! News in 2017. "It suddenly ended and it was one of those things that was like wow, you're just going to give up that easily? I think about it now and there were issues from the get-go anyway, and it's a blessing that we were both smart enough to realize in the beginning and not drag it out."
Josh Murray and Amanda Stanton, Bachelor in Paradise Season 3
Length of Relationship: Seven Months
She Said: In the weeks following their broken 2016 engagement, the California-based single mom simply told E! News their split was "for the best." Months later, though, she admitted their romance was far less rosy than it may have appeared.
Noting that she saw "red flags" and felt he was "extremely controlling," she also revealed to E! News that while he moved in with her and her daughters he was "always was talking about how he still wanted to move to Atlanta."
He Said: Andi Dorfman's ex responded to Amanda's interview by releasing a statement to E! News threatening to "move forward with legal actions" if his former fiancée continued to speak out.
"I just want Amanda to stop lying about me, stop speaking to the press about me, and for Amanda and her friends to stop trying to cyber bully me," he said."I haven't said anything to the press or on social media about her because I moved on with my life.
Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell, The Bachelor Season 20
He Said: "I think mutually Lauren and I saw that life was getting more difficult," Ben said on his Almost Famous podcast following the end of their engagement in 2017. "I would say the joy that we felt toward our relationship at the beginning was—for some reason—slipping away, and we were both working very hard to bring that joy back. And it just never seemed to get there. So it was a long time coming but it wasn't necessarily like we dragged it out."She Said: Ben telling runner-up JoJo Fletcher he loved her during the show was a huge hurdle from the get-go for Lauren. "I always try to be really strong because I wanted to move forward from it," she told People. "But because I wanted to move forward from it, I don't think I ever really opened up about how hard that was."
Samantha Steffen and Nick Peterson, Bachelor in Paradise Season 2
Length of Relationship: Three months
He Said: "Rumor mill has it right this time," the Tampa-based trainer wrote on Instagram in October 2015 alongside a photo of himself and the L.A. designer providing their best pouting faces. "Samantha and I have decided the distance is too tough at this time. She's an amazing girl and I'm so thankful for the experience and time we had together! We'll absolutely remain friends and I wish her all the best with all that she has going on!"
Cassandra Ferguson and Justin Reich, Bachelor in Paradise Season 2
She Said: Though they ended Paradise as a pair in the summer of 2015, once back in the Midwest, Cassandra (the single mother who romanced Juan Pablo Galavis) and Justin (one of Kaitlyn Bristowe's suitors) failed to find the heat. "It's not like I'm just going to pick up and move to Chicago," the Michigan-based makeup artist explained on After Paradise, "because my son is really close to my parents."
She found someone a bit closer to home, having a chance meeting with fellow beachgoer Jonathan Holloway. "I wanted to meet her in Paradise, actually, but didn't get the opportunity to," he explained on the reunion episode. "And then when we ran into each other at the photo shoot, it worked out perfectly." Though the pair's romance stopped blossoming soon after.
He Said: While he may not have been in Mexico to make pals, the trainer did just that, telling the Chicago Tribune post-show that he and Cassandra are "just friends."
Length of Relationship: Three years
He and She Said: Fans were devastated when the beloved couple announced the end of their engagement in 2018, though rumors that the bloom had come off the rose had persisted for months.
"This difficult decision comes after thoughtful, respectful consideration," Shawn and Kaitlyn said in statement. "We have both evolved as people, which is taking us in different directions, but with the hope that we will continue to support each other in new ways."
Six months later, after she began dating now-former fiancé Jason Tartick, Kaitlyn admitted that she knew for the last year of their time together that "he couldn't give me the kind of love that I needed."
He Said: "When I [got down] on one knee, I thought that was it," Chris told Entertainment Tonight after the 2015 split. "[But] once it's all said and done, you do get to a new reality after the show's over. Then you start to learn and figure out if the relationship's actually going to work."
She Said: Though saddened by the broken engagement, the nurse, now a married mom of two, told Us Weekly, "I think that it's important that we maintain our friendship, and I love that we were able to end things cordially. We went through something very unique, and I think that we'll have a friendship for the rest of our lives."
Lacy Faddoul and Marcus Grodd, Bachelor in Paradise Season 1
He Said: The couple from Paradise's inaugural season returned to the beach in 2015 to exchange vows in front of ABC's cameras. But when they returned to California, "It was just a very different situation with her,” the sports medicine manager told People in 2016, addressing their split. “It was kind of like postponing our plans. That was the drop of our relationship.”
While the pair had intended to put together a legal ceremony and officially start their lives together, “She didn’t want to live together anymore," he continued, having dubbed her a runaway bride that largely ghosted their relationship. "She wanted to be able to take time apart again. Things just drastically changed after I got back."
She Said: Though the elderly care facility owner largely kept silent at the time, she's an avid Bachelor viewer who likes to remind fans that not everything is as it seems. Reposting an article of the biggest franchise scandals in 2020, she wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "I’m the runaway bride.....that ran to the life I’ve always had. Such a scandal....Shame on me."
Michelle Money and Cody Sattler, Bachelor in Paradise Season 1
Length of Relationship: Two years, off and on
She Said: Six months after falling hard in Mexico, the pair announced their split in December 2014. "I am so grateful I followed my heart and that it lead me to Cody," the Salt Lake City hairstylist wrote on Facebook. "He has made me feel so loved and so appreciated. I only wish that it could have ended up the way we had hoped."
The pair's hearts brought them back together—and to a 2016 stint on Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars, but they broke up again once filming wrapped. “I really do wish him all the happiness in the world,” she told Us Weekly that June. “But I don’t see us really having a future together.”
He Said: Noting his time with the Utah resident and her daughter Brielle, now 19, made him "a better person," the trainer wrote on Instagram, "Michelle and Brielle will always hold a special spot in my heart and I wish all the best for them."
