We thought after that one Twitter situation, we'd never see Katy Perry strut a fresh face again, but we thought wrong.

The singer ditched the makeup for scenes (yes, plural) in her upcoming 3-D documentary Part of Me, which hits theaters this summer.

A barefaced Perry shows off a megawatt smile (and interesting peppermint-inspired outfit) in this particular backstage still, which we can all agree looks a lot better than that twitpic Russell Brand released. Plus, she was prepared for this photo, which also helps the situation.

"When you see the film, it's a bit scary because there's a lot of shots of me bloated with zits and normal," Perry told Ellen DeGeneres while on her show. "I think it's important to start breaking down the idea that to achieve your dream you always have to be perfect or flawless or live in some kind of fantasy world.

"So that's why I decided to put everything into the film, in the most tasteful way. But mostly it's about how I go there and the ride along the way which can be bumpy but mostly it was extremely fun."

We can definitely say this was one sequel that was better than the original.
