There's no doubting the fact that Philip Seymour Hoffman had one of the most illustrious careers in Hollywood.

The actor was honored with countless accolades, including an Academy Award for the title role in Capote, and was praised by anyone who worked alongside him.

But whether Hoffman was on the red carpet promoting his latest film, or speaking to E! News after winning an Oscar, he was always incredibly humble.

"I've been given more [awards] than any person should be given anything for anything they've ever done," he told E! News after winning the coveted trophy back in 2006.

And while he remained mostly out of the public eye over the last two years, he did play Plutarch Heavensbee in the hit flick The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

"I have a lot of fun with those guys," he told us of joining the franchise. "They're a good group. [Director] Francis Lawrence is a great guy."

Despite the movie's smash success, Hoffman didn't see himself at the center of all the fandemonium.

"They're chasing other people right now," he said while laughing.

Hoffman had filmed both parts of the upcoming Mockingjay films, but we're told that his tragic passing will not affect the release date of both movies.

Hoffman was found dead in his New York City apartment on Feb. 2, of an apparent overdose.

The NYPD received a 911 call shortly after 11:30 a.m in the West Village neighborhood.

The New York City Medical Examiner is currently working to determine the exact cause of death.

In May 2013, the critically acclaimed actor sought treatment for a heroin addiction.

He is survived by his longtime partner, Mimi O'Donnell, and their three children, daughters Tallulah and Willa and son Cooper
