There have been a lot of changes going on in Katie Holmes' life, we all know that by now.

With Tom Cruise, who openly practices Scientology, out of the picture, has the actress chosen to go back to her Catholic roots?

It seems that way.

A source tells E! News that Katie is going to begin practicing the Catholic faith at the Church of St. Francis Xavier in New York City.

It's reported that Holmes has become a registered parishioner of the church, which, according to their bulletin, will grant her qualification for a sponsor letter to become a verified parishioner after six months.

St. Francis Xavier parish says in its mission statement that it's a place "where seekers and their questions are welcomed, where injustice is challenged, where the poor, the alienated and marginalized find a home, and where people are refreshed, reconciled and renewed."

That sounds pretty perfect right about now.

Of course, the church isn't declaring one way or another whether they're up a famous parishioner.

"While we cannot comment on Ms. Holmes in particular, St. Francis Xavier is a church that strives to carry out the mission of the Gospels by creating a safe, warm, welcoming, and friendly environment for people from all walks of life to practice their Catholic faith," they said in a statement.

"We have a vibrant, parishioner-driven community in which the Sacraments are celebrated with joyful reverence, along with an active outreach ministry to those in need...Those who attend St. Francis Xavier call this their 'spiritual home' where all are welcome."
