AP Photo/Isaac Brekken; Pool Photographer/Getty Images Even though there are no court proceedings today due to the Columbus Day holiday, Dr. Conrad Murray's involuntary manslaughter trial is still a hot topic of discussion this morning.
That's because there's been speculation that Murray might actually take the stand in his defense regarding the death of Michael Jackson.
So, could we soon be hearing from the man himself?
"If the legal team determines it will help the client's case to take the stand, then they will," a source tells E! News. "But if it won't, then they won't put him on the stand."
The decision is being left up to the expertise of the legal team and is being described as a fluid decision. Murray is not currently prepped to testify.
"Absolutely no decision has been made," adds the insider.
On Friday, the jury listened to a two-and-a-half-hour taped police interview with Murray two days after Jackson's death, where he described in detail the facts leading up to and around the singer's passing.
"There isn't more he can say," says the source.
Also, contrary to a Radar Online report that one reason Murray might not take the stand is that he would come off as arrogant, the source says such a thought is the furthest thing from the truth.
"He is a very compassionate, caring person and that would be the last concern that the legal team would have, that he would come off as unpleasant on the stand," insists the source.
The trial is scheduled to resume on Tuesday at 8:45 a.m.
