Lamar Odom continues to make progress as he remains hospitalized following a drug overdose and after emerging from a coma.

His family and friends are rallying around him. Khloe Kardashian has not left his side since he was admitted.

The 35-year-old former NBA star was hospitalized on Tuesday after being found unconscious in a Nevada brothel and was in a coma for almost three days. Odom woke up on Friday and has since shown some signs of improvement, although he is not out of the woods and there is always the possibility for setbacks. E! News has learned Odom has a long tough road ahead of him.

"Lamar is slowly making progress. Today has been a good day," a source said on Sunday, adding, "There's a lot of praying going on."

Since Odom emerged from the coma, he has:

Spoken briefly to Khloe Kardashian, saying, "Hey baby" and "Good morning"

—Begun to communicate using hand signals

—Been able to breathe on his own, without a ventilator. He is also using a non rebreather mask that is pumping oxygen and doctors recently decreased the amount needed. The next step is to wean him off it entirely, which depends on how strong his body is

—Passed a swallow test, a promising sign of neurological function

Left his hospital bed: He was moved, with assistance into a chair

Due to kidney failure, Odom remains on dialysis and doctors are still running tests to determine the extent of possible brain damage or other long-term effects from his overdose.

Odom is being treated by a team of doctors that consists of a neurologist, cardiologist, a primary care doctor and a critical care physician. Khloe, 31, has been working with them to ensure he receives the best care and has spent each night in his room since he was admitted. She has been quiet and concerned about Odom and helpful and nice to his visitors. She thanks the doctors and nurses every single time and that gift baskets and food are delivered daily, E! News has learned.

Khloe had his father, his two kids Destiny and Lamar Odom Jr., as well as their mother, Liza Morales, flown to Nevada to see him. All of her sisters, including Kim Kardashian, 34, who is in the third trimester of pregnancy, and mother Kris Jenner, 59, have visited Odom as well. Kris, Kim and Kendall Jenner, 19, flew to see him on Saturday.

Despite tabloid reports, Keeping Up With the Kardashians is not filming.

Brother Rob Kardashian, 28, who has kept out of the public eye for more than a year, posted a tribute to Odom on Instagram last week.

Odom's friends, including former teammates such as Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant, 37, and Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin, 26, have also traveled to Nevada to see him. Bryant got to the hospital almost immediately after he heard Odom was hospitalized and spent 12 consecutive hours at his bedside, E! News has learned.

"I believe in the power of prayer!" Kim, who had canceled her baby shower in wake of Odom's hospitalization, wrote on Instagram on Saturday night. "Thx 4 ur prayers."
