The couple are engaged after two years of dating, E! News confirms. The Mr. Robot creator popped the question over the weekend.
The 28-year-old Shameless star and the 37-year-old producer first met when he directed his future bride-to-be alongside Justin Long in the 2014 film Comet. Since then, the two often kill us with cuteness on Esmail's Instagram feed.
Rossum opened up about her man when she covered Cosmopolitan's September 2014 issue and revealed what kind of guy she's attracted to.
"I don't gravitate to the jock; it's the nerdy guy in the corner," she confessed. "I'm dating a writer now [Sam Esmail]. Writers are sexy."
The Phantom of the Opera star was previously married to music executive Justin Siegel; the two split up after a year and a half of marriage before finalizing their divorce in late December 2010.
In spite of that split, Rossum also told Cosmo that she hoped to walk down the aisle again.
