Jennifer Lawrence lost Best Supporting Actress to Lupita Nyong'o at Sunday's Oscars, but the American Hustle star wasn't going down without a fight. When the friendly rivals came face-to-face backstage, Lawrence playfully attempted to steal the newcomer's golden statuette. Nyong'o played along and pretended to fight her fellow nominee for it as Best Supporting Actor Jared Leto looked on.

Earlier that night, the in-demand actresses shared a warm hug on the red carpet, just outside of the Hollywood & Highland Center. Lawrence, 23, modeled a Dior dress, Brian Atwood heels and Neil Lane jewelry, while Nyong'o, 31, looked divine wearing a custom Prada dress and Fred Leighton accessories.

The fashionistas both changed outfits for the Vanity Fair party later that night. Lawrence showed off her sexier side in an embellished Tom Ford mini-dress, while Nyong'o selected a Miu Miu design.

Lawrence and Nyong'o have gone head-to-head throughout awards season, with the former taking home a Golden Globe and BAFTA for her work in American Hustle. Nyong'o, meanwhile, received the ultimate birthday present on Saturday when she won her first-ever Film Independent Spirit Award.

Never one to behave like a sore loser, Lawrence appeared to be genuinely happy for Nyong'o at Sunday's 86th Annual Academy Awards.  "When I look down at this golden statue, may it remind me and every little child that no matter where you're from, your dreams are valid," the 12 Years a Slave star said during her emotional and inspirational acceptance speech.
