Watch: Matthew McConaughey Beats the Odds

Matthew McConaughey pulled the perfect McConaughey when he accepted his 2014 Golden Globe for Best Actor with his iconic Dazed and Confused catchphrase.

But that's not the Dallas Buyers Club star just being his charming Southern self for our amusement—saying "Alright, alright, alright" actually calms him down!

"It's the first thing I say to kinda kick start me," he told E! News' Giuliana Rancic Sunday, Jan. 12. "If I'm nervous, I say that. I can get on a roll. So I always just say that because it's a testament to the first words I ever said on screen [in as David Wooderson in the 1993 stoner flick] and because it relaxes me."

The 44-year-old father of three also made a good point for never giving up on something you believe in. "Part of getting [Dallas Buyers Club] done was not flinching. People turned this film down 86 times—86 times!" he said. "We're talking about—Jared [Leto] just got Best Supporting Actor, I just got Best Actor, and that's all a testament to so many of us putting our heads down and saying, 'We're gonna make this story . No matter what.'"

And that they did! Jared, 42, also spoke to E! News about how much of a team effort it was to make the film, saying that winning a Golden Globe "allows you to a chance to put your flag in the ground and say thank you to all of the people who mean so much and who have helped you create these crazy, creative, wild wonderful things."

The actor, who also makes music with his band 30 Seconds to Mars, said performing is "a wonderful thing," and he looks at is at as a chance to "somehow improve and make [the audience's] lives a little bit more interesting."

Well, he surely did that in Dallas Buyers Club, and his Brazilian waxing acceptance speech was pretty entertaining as well!
