Let's get the party started!

Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan brought the Roaring Twenties to the French Riviera as they turned up for the photo call for The Great Gatsby, whose European premiere officially opened the 2013 Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday.

The duo had flashbulbs a-poppin' as they walked the red carpet along with Gatsby director Baz Luhrmann and fellow cast members Tobey Maguire and Joel Edgerton.

The filmmaker and cast were no doubt jazzed to be screening this uniquely American tale at the prestigious festival (out of competition), especially after the period drama debuted to a stellar $50 million at the North American box office last weekend despite mixed reviews from critics.

"For our film to be headlining [Cannes] is a huge honor," DiCaprio said in a Q&A with festival organizers. "Because this is a very risky undertaking and Baz is one of those great directors who's not afraid to take risks and this is the perfect forum for that."
