After much build-up, the actress has finally married multihyphenate beau in Italy. Jess touched down in the country for final dress fittings earlier this month, while the couple's closest family and friends arrived this week. Guests have even been signing NDAs before flying into one airport and then transported to the top-secret wedding location in the sunny southern part of the country, where they've visited the sites and dined on the best local cuisine.
So now that the former 7th Heaven star and the 'N Sync frontman have finally made their way to the altar, let's take a look back at how they got there in the first place.
Jan. 15, 2007: According to reports, Justin and Jessica started chatting at a Golden Globes after-party. J.T.'s ex-girlfriend Cameron Diaz was also in attendance. Considering Cam and Justin only broke up a few weeks earlier, the singer-actor's flirting with his future fiancée might have made things a bit awkward.
May 2007: LoveStoned, perhaps? Justin and Jessica took their romance public, packing on the PDA on a string of romantic dates across the pond. According to reports, Justin flew Jessica to Manchester and they continued their lovey-dovey vacation in Copenhagen.
October 2008: Justin and Jessica worked together on something important to both of them: Publicly endorsing then-presidential candidate Barack Obama. The couple encouraged people in Las Vegas to support Obama's presidential bid.
November 2008: The couple is seen walking their dogs together, making for one adorable pack.
September 2009: The gossip rags began to speculate that J.T. dumped Jess…for Rihanna. Oh, nah-nah, no truth here.
October 2009: More rumors that the couple had split hit the Web. Justin's rep told E! News the duo were very much still together. Still, sources claimed the Justin and Jess just weren't "in a good place right now."
March 11, 2011: Cry me a river. On this very sad date, Justin and Jessica released a joint statement to People confirming their split, noting that the breakup was "completely mutual and they both decided it was time to move on."
June 2011: The exes happily reunited at mutual pal Trace Ayala's party.
June 2011: Even though they weren't together, Justin candidly told Vanity Fair that Jessica "is the single-handedly most significant person in my life…In my 30 years, she is the most special person, OK? So I protect it, and until somebody shows me what would be more fulfilling at this point, that's what I have to do." In the coming months, he and Jessica fully reconcile their relationship.
August 2011: J and J are spotted riding bikes through the Great White North, although sources claimed this was just a friendly thing.
December 2011: While celebrating the holidays in Montana with a small group of family and friends, Justin proposed to Jessica, a source confirmed to E! News.
Jan. 5, 2012: Good ol' Grandma Sadie spilled the beans! Sadie Bomar told Gossip Cop her grandson "called me on Christmas Day and told me he's engaged." She explained that Justin asked her not to share the news "until after the holidays" and shared that "the family loves Jessie. She's a very sweet girl."
May 7, 2012: Nice ice! Jessica flaunted her stunning engagement ring at the Met Costume Gala in New York City.
May 12, 2012: Who needs modesty? The engaged duo hammed it up for the Kiss Cam at a Lakers game.
May 2012: The lovebirds celebrated their engagement with a blowout bash! Around 100 family members and friends—including Lance Bass and Ellen DeGeneres—feted the pair's future nuptials at a party in the backyard of designer/styles Estee Stanley's home.
October 2012: Biel flew to Europe for a shoot in Paris. Afterward she decamped to Italy for dress fittings and final wedding prep as friends and family begin to arrive for the hush-hush wedding.
Oct. 16, 2012: Friends and family of the couple—including Andy Samberg, Beverly Mitchell, Timbaland and music manager Johnny Wright—celebrated with a wedding party.
Oct 17, 2012: Nine vehicles transported guests from their luxury beachfront hotel to a grotto in Lama Del Trappeto. Surrounded by private security and local police, guests (including Beverly Mitchell and frequent J.T. music collaboraters Timbaland and Rob Knox) got the grotto all to themselves. They lounged on white recliners around open fires, and were served cheeses made in the grotto, milk from goats, local olives, ricotta and wine from the area.
Oct. 19, 2012: They do! Jessica and Justin tied the knot at the Borgo Egnazia resort in the southern Italian city of Fasano in front of famous friends and family.
