Josh Brolin just needs a good auditing. That may be what the Church of Scientology is thinking after the actor publicly bashed the religion recently in The New Yorker.

In a feature story about Crash director Paul Haggis' rejection of his longtime faith, Brolin told the mag he had visited the Scientology Center in a "moment of real desperation" but quickly rejected it.

The star also reveals he saw some freaky things go down in the name of the group—one which involved church member John Travolta practicing the religion on Marlon Brando at an L.A. party...

As Brolin tells is, Brando arrived at the dinner party in pain from a cut he received on his leg when assisting a stranded motorist on the side of the highway. Travolta offered to help the aging star, telling him he had reached a "new level" in Scientology, and then began touching Brando's leg.

"I watched this process going on, it was very physical," Brolin said. "I was thinking, 'This is really f--king bizarre!' Then after ten minutes, Brando opens his eyes and says, 'That really helped. I actually feel different!' "

Travolta, through his lawyer, claims to have no recollection of the account, calling it "pure fabrication."
